In 1979 the leadership of Salem Christian Homes created Salem Foundation to raise support and ensure the long-term, strategic health and success of Salem Inc. Salem Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) private foundation with separate board than Salem Inc that meets four times per year. The foundation by charter solely exists for the benefit of Salem Christian Homes. The Salem Foundation prudently invests, manages the assets, and disburses funds to provide strategic & auxiliary financial support for Salem Christian Homes for its long-term sustain ability and ongoing operational needs.

From time-to-time funds may only be disbursed from Salem Foundation to support Salem Christian Homes, Inc. The types of disbursements made to Salem Inc. include funds to purchase additional homes and land for offering care to people with developmental disabilities and to help make up for shortfalls or delays in government reimbursement to Salem Inc.

In addition to donations of cash and stocks, Salem Foundation welcomes estate and trust gifts to Salem Foundation to help ensure Salem, Inc will fulfill its mission to provide the best care possible to people with developmental disabilities for generations to come.
