Admissions

Salem serves male and female adults and elders, who have a primary diagnosis of mental retardation, in community homes, ICF homes, and supported living situations.

Currently we are accepting applications for our waiting list. We accept people on our waiting list after they have been on a tour of Salem and completed the appropriate paper work. Upon request, an appointment for a tour will be set up with the interested party.  At that time an application for admission will be given. Upon receipt of the application and information packet from the regional center, a letter is sent to the interested party placing the prospective resident on Salem’s waiting list or indicating Salem’s inability to serve that person.

When an opening occurs the applicant will be contacted for an interview and tour of the home. Preplacement visit(s) will be arranged if all parties are happy with the prospective placement. After a successful weekend visit an offer of placement will be made and appropriate arrangements made.
